About the Elangomat Committee
The Elangomat Committee of Ha-Kin-Skay-A-Ki Lodge is responsible for the administration of the Elangomat Program within the Lodge. That includes the recruiting and training of Elangomats, supervision of Elangomats during the Ordeal Weekends and during the year of service following the Weekend as part of the Extended Elangomat Program. Elangomats are guides for the Ordeal Candidates and new Ordeal Members. Elangomats lead a clan (a group of approximately 8 - 10 candidates) in a similar way as the Troop Guide leads the new members of a Troop during their first year.
Elangomats relive their own Ordeal experience along with the Candidates in their clan. They are with their clan continuously from the Pre-Ordeal Ceremony to the Ordeal Ceremony. Prior to the Ordeal Weekend each Elangomat is required to complete a one hour training course to better prepare him to serve.
Following the Ordeal the Elangomat maintains contact with his or her clan and encourages them to become involved in the lodge activities and eventually to seal their membership through the Brotherhood Ceremony after being an Ordeal Member for 10 months.

We encourage all Brotherhood members to consider making the commitment to the lodge to serve as an Elangomat one time. We do not want career Elangomats but prefer each member carrying a small portion of the burden along the trail. If you have what it takes and are willing to make a commitment to help a group of candidates through their Ordeal send an email to the lodge and volunteer.
